چکیده

Abstract We report on a one-second-cadence wide-field survey for M-dwarf flares using the Tomo-e Gozen camera mounted Kiso Schmidt telescope. detect 22 from M3–M5 dwarfs with rise time of 5 s ? trise 100 and an amplitude 0.5 ?F/F? 20. The flare light-curves mostly show steeper rises shallower decays than those obtained Kepler one-minute cadence data tend to have flat peak structures. Assuming blackbody spectrum temperature 9000–15000 K, luminosities energies are estimated be 1029 erg s?1 Lpeak 1031 Eflare 1034 erg, which constitutes bright end fast optical M dwarfs. confirm that more $90\%$ host stars detected magnetically active based their H?-emission-line intensities by LAMOST. An occurrence rate is ?0.7 per day star, indicating they common in argue can explained chromospheric compression model: broadly consistent Alfvén transit magnetic loop length scale lloop ? 104 km field strength 1000 gauss, while decay likely determined radiative cooling compressed chromosphere down near photosphere ? 10000 K. These could major contamination source future search transients unknown types.

Periodic Optical Variability of Radio Detected Ultracool Dwarfs

A fraction of very low mass stars and brown dwarfs are known to be radio active, in some cases producing periodic pulses. Extensive studies of two such objects have also revealed optical periodic variability and the nature of this variability remains unclear. Here we report on multi-epoch optical photometric monitoring of six radio detected dwarfs, spanning the ∼M8 L3.5 spectral range, conducte...

Optical Linear Polarization of Late M-and L-type Dwarfs

We report on the linear polarimetric observations in the Johnson I-band filter of 44 ultracool dwarfs with spectral types between M6 and L7.5, corresponding to effective temperatures in the range 2800–1400 K, and one M4.5-type star. Based on our measurements of polarization (P) and their associated error bars (σ P), eleven (10 L and 1 M) dwarfs appear to have significant linear polarization (P/...

Radio Emission from AGN detected by the VLA FIRST Survey

Using the most recent (April 2003) version of the VLA FIRST survey radio catalog, we have searched for radio emission from > 2800 AGN taken from the most recent (2001) version of the Veron-Cetty and Veron AGN catalog. These AGN lie in the ∼9033 square degrees of sky already covered by the VLA FIRST survey. Our work has resulted in positive detection of radio emission from 775 AGN of which 214 a...

Particle Acceleration by Fast Modes in Solar Flares

We address the problem of particle acceleration in solar flares by fast modes which may be excited during the reconnection and undergo cascade and are subjected to damping. We extend the calculations beyond quasilinear approximation and compare the acceleration and scattering by transit time damping and gyroresonance interactions. We find that the acceleration is dominated by the so called tran...

A deep survey of brown dwarfs in Orion with Gemini

We report the results of a deep near infrared (JHK) survey of the outer parts of the Trapezium Cluster with Gemini South/Flamingos. 396 sources were detected in a 26 arcmin area, including 138 brown dwarf candidates, defined as M< 0.075M⊙ for an assumed age of 1 Myr. Only 33 of the brown dwarf candidates are planetary mass candidates (PMCs) with estimated masses in the range 0.003 <M< 0.012M⊙. ...
